The Legrand CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software is designed to manage all aspects of business relationships.

It can help you track customer communications, records of purchases, payments, sales contacts, service calls, and other data. Your staff can use the software to search for information when a customer calls, before they call a customer, or whenever they need to reference a customer’s contact information or history. Marketing and sales teams can use Legrand CRM to create targeted campaign lists based on past purchases, geographical location, industry, or other information.

Legrand CRM was just lacking in one critical area - mobility. Legrand CRM does support a Laptop installation of Legrand CRM, and allows synchronisation with Microsoft Outlook (with Outlook then configured to synchronise with a Windows Mobile™ device over ActiveSync), but this was not always practical.

As most people know, Windows Mobile™ devices are reknowned for providing the most integrated PIM (Personal Information Management) experience on the market today. With applications like Office Mobile™, Outlook Mobile™, Internet Explorer Mobile™ and Windows Media Player Mobile™, a Windows Mobile™ device is the next best thing to putting your office PC in your Pocket.

Therefore, it was an easy decision for SyncIT to develop PocketSync, an add-on component for Legrand CRM users to have full, seamless synchronisation of contacts, appointments and tasks between Legrand CRM and a Windows Mobile™ device.

PocketSync fully integrates with Outlook Mobile™. A user's contacts will appear in their Outlook Mobile™ list of contacts and can be used to make phone calls on a Pocket PC Phone Edition device, and their appointments and tasks are in their Outlook Mobile™ calendar and task list and integrated with the Today screen.

Compatible

The biggest challenge faced by SyncIT during this project was to allow provide a single version of PocketSync that was compatible with the range of Pocket PC devices on the market, the various versions of Legrand CRM, and the two database types supported by Legrand CRM, FoxPro and SQL Server.

To manage this problem, the use of a Web Service to interpret the synchronisation methods between versions was the best course of action.
